Josh & Menekşe
are getting married!
Saturday, 6 June, 2026 - Edwalton Church, Nottingham
We’d love you to join us!
Join us for a relaxed summer ceremony followed by a picnic-style garden party in the church gardens. The details at a glance…
When? Saturday, 6 June 2026 at 1pm
Where? Church of the Holy Rood, Edwalton, Nottingham, NG12 4AB
Reception? Garden party in the church gardens with street food style dining
The Ceremony
The ceremony will take place inside Edwalton Church - a 900–year old village church also known as Church of the Holy Rood.
1pm - please be seated by 12:45pm
It will be a Christian ceremony with the marriage performed by one of Menekse’s best friends (who happens to be the vicar!).
We know that lots of our family and friends aren’t Christians, and we completely understand if you don’t feel comfortable being inside the church for the ceremony - we would love you to join us for the reception.
Please note that the bathrooms for the day are inside the church building, but in the annexe rather than the main church itself. These buildings are ajoined but separate.

The Reception
After the ceremony, we’d love you to join us for a laid-back summer afternoon and evening in the church gardens.
We want the day to feel light, easy, and full of colour - more relaxed summer celebration than formal reception.
Think flowers, sunshine, good food, and a relaxed picnic feel, with plenty of time to chat and enjoy the day together.
There will be rugs and blankets on the grass, street food style food, and a garden-party atmosphere - so please don’t feel you need to dress very formally.
Wardrobe recommendations
Think summer garden party rather than formal occasion. Shoes that work well on grass are definitely a good idea!
We’ve collated some inspo images from Pinterest to give you a sense of what we’re aiming for.
We love a plan, but we reserve the right to change our minds a bit, ok?
This is just to give you a vague idea of what’s happening.
Timeline…
-
At 1pm, we’re getting officially married inside the church. The church is 900 years old and everyone will fit, but it will be cosy!
Seating will be reserved for parents and bridal party - everyone else can find a seat!
-
Immediately following the ceremony, we’ll be heading into the garden. We’re having a chilled, picnic-style hang out - there will be music, drinks, and games.
-
We’ve got lots of food, and the main lunch is served from 3-5pm. Choose from souvlaki-style wraps or burrito bowls: two very flexible options that cater to all dietary requirements.
-
Multiple dessert options AND an ice cream bar will be available after we’ve had lunch.
-
We might be in a garden, but that won’t stop the speeches.
-
You may well be in actual socks, and it’s time to cut up our lawn dancefloor with your favourite moves.
-
More food?! Yep. From 7:30pm - 9:30pm, you’ll be able to choose from posh cheese toasties or loaded nachos - again, flexible to your tastebuds and dietary requirements.
-
We’ll be wrapping up at about 10:30pm after a day full of living, laughing, and loving. If you’re an introvert, there is no expectation to make it to 10:30pm babes - get yourself home to bed whenever your social battery runs out.
Ready to RSVP?
We’d love to know if you can make it by April 17th!
FAQs
What time does everything start?
The ceremony will begin at 1:00pm on Saturday 6 June 2026 at Church of the Holy Rood, Edwalton, Nottingham.
After the ceremony, we’ll be celebrating in the church gardens with a relaxed picnic / garden party.
Is there parking?
Yes, BUT - the church is on an old village street and it is very narrow and very limited in the immediate vicinity - so we would ask that you park on the side streets away from the church.
We highly recommend Ubers or car sharing to avoid congestion & respect our neighbours.
Will there be seating?
There will be rugs and blankets on the grass, along with some seating, but the overall feel will be informal and picnic-style.
If you need a chair or have any accessibility requirements, please let us know when you RSVP.
Will drinks be provided?
Yes - drinks will be provided. We’ll have a selection of soft drinks, beer, and wine.
You’re also very welcome to bring your own. There will not be a paid bar due to licensing regulations.
I have dietary or accessibility requirements.
Please let us know any dietary or accessibility requirements you have in the relevant fields of the RSVP, and we’ll do everything we can to make the day comfortable and enjoyable for you.
What should I wear?
Please think summer smart / garden party rather than formal.
The celebration after the ceremony will be outdoors in the church gardens, and we’ll have rugs and blankets on the grass, so there’s no need for very formal outfits.
Shoes that work well on grass are definitely a good idea.
We have suggested a colour scheme so that the photographs are cohesive - you can find that here.
Is there a gift list?
Your presence at our wedding is more than enough - so please don’t feel you need to bring anything apart from yourself to our wedding!
As we already have a home with everything we need, we don’t have a traditional gift list.
We’ve curated a First Year of Dates and some different honeymoon adventures in a gift registry, so if you’d like to gift us something, you can find the gift registry page here.
